A third-generation business, Snappy Popcorn has grown and sold popcorn in rural Iowa since the 1940s. Even through years of expansion, the company, which serves as the official popcorn of the Iowa State Cyclones, continues to grow its own kernels and process them in its Breda plant. This in-house production gives the products a fresh, homemade taste.
The popcorn — which ranges from microwavable bags to pre-popped, flavored varieties to kernels for stove-top preparation — is shipped all over the world, and available in Midwest grocery stores such as Hy-Vee and Fareway. In addition to popcorn, Snappy has a strong presence in the concessions equipment market, selling products like nacho machines and pretzel warmers that assist food stands offering quick, on-the-go meals.
"These facility updates will help us continue to serve our customers and bring them fresh, high-quality popcorn," said Jon Tiefenthaler, owner of Snappy Popcorn Co. "We pride ourselves on great service, and this expansion means we can maintain our efficiency, even as our customer base grows."
As Snappy continues to develop its popcorn offerings and range of other products, the upgraded facility will help ensure it remains a leader in the industry.
