Snappy Popcorn Continues Iowa State Athletics Sponsorship
Snappy Popcorn, an Iowa-based popcorn producer and retailer of concessions equipment, is excited to announce the continuation of its status as the "official popcorn of Iowa State athletics” in the upcoming year, after renewing the contract this spring. Snappy, known for its fresh, Iowa-grown popcorn and range of concessions supplies, is looking forward to extending this long-running partnership.
As the Cyclones' official popcorn, Snappy has a presence in many of the university’s athletic facilities. Snappy popcorn is also served to thousands of fans every year during sporting events, including Iowa State football and basketball games. This will be the eighth season of the partnership, which also encompasses events like the Junior Cyclone Club’s Movie Night at Jack Trice Stadium, of which Snappy has been the presenting sponsor.
Located in the small western Iowa town Breda, Snappy Popcorn has a strong Cyclone connection as a company. It is a third-generation business, and current owner Jon Tiefenthaler grew up attending Iowa State football games with his father, a tradition he has continued with his own family. While Snappy ships their popcorn across the world and sells products in stores throughout the country, it is important for Tiefenthaler to maintain this in-state partnership.
"We are proud to be the official popcorn of Iowa State athletics and give back to Iowa in this way,” said Tiefenthaler. "The success of Cyclone sports is great for our state, and as a family-owned, Iowa-built business, we’re happy to be a part of that.”
Tiefenthaler said that the sponsorship is also important to him personally, as 5 out of 6 of his immediate family members graduated from the university, and his father has held season tickets for more than 50 years. Snappy Popcorn’s role as the Cyclones’ official popcorn varies, but includes promotions during games and special events, as well as other support for the athletics department.
