Memorial Day weekend is coming up. What a great time for a get-together with the friends, family and neighbors! It is sure to be the perfect event to cook out and have a potluck picnic. Grill the traditional hotdogs and hamburgers. Ask everyone to bring a side dish or dessert. You can make some popcorn balls for the occasion. Prepare a few batches of fresh popcorn. Use our microwavable popcorn or pop some kernels in a pan on the stovetop. A 1/2 cup of popcorn kernels will yield about 4 quarts.
What you will need:
Large bowl
5 c. miniature marshmallows
6 Tbsp. stick margarine
4 qts. popped popcorn
Spoon
Cooking spray
Plastic wrap
Curling ribbon
Put the marshmallows and margarine in a large microwave safe bowl. Melt them in the microwave at 2-minute intervals, stirring in between heating sessions. When it is smooth, allow it to cool slightly. Add the popcorn and stir until coated. Put a little cooking spray or margarine on your hands. Scoop out a glob of popcorn and shape into a ball. Set aside. Wrap the individual popcorn balls in pieces of plastic wrap and tie with a piece of ribbon. Makes 8 or 9 popcorn balls.
